ReactIR™ as a Process Analytical Technology (PAT) Tool for Organic Chemists on-demand webinar

PAT (Process Analytical Technology) tools are an important constituent of the QBD (Quality By Design) initiative. The FDA has encouraged the use of PAT tools as a key component of QBD. Recently, more information-rich tools - such as the Lasentec® FBRM® (Focused Beam Reflectance Measurement) and the ReactIR™ (real-time in situ mid-infrared spectroscopy) - have been embraced by the pharmaceutical industry as standard Process Analytical Technology (PAT) tools. As the interest in implementing these PAT tools has increased, and as the cooperation between manufacturing and R&D has likewise increased, it has become critical that this technology is also used further upstream in process development. The ReactIR™ iC10 was developed as a PAT tool for the organic chemist. Using the ReactIR™ iC10 early in process development allows the organic chemist to gather critical information from their reactions that facilitates a thorough understanding of the critical process parameters that impact the quality and robustness of their processes.

As the ReactIR™ iC10 is a real-time in situ technique, this technology is ideally suited to provide information such as reaction initiation point, the presence of reactive intermediates, reaction kinetics, end point determination, and can even provide reaction mechanistic information. Furthermore, developing a monitoring strategy in the lab can be crucial if the decision is made to transfer the monitoring technology to the plant to ensure successful scale-up and campaigns.

ReactIRTM as a PAT Tool for Organic Chemists On-Demand Webinar details
Your online presenter, Dr. Jennifer Andrews, has more than 10 years experience in assisting organic chemists to implement ReactIRTM technology in the lab and plant to help in the development and scale-up of chemical processes.  She is a Senior Technology and Application Consultant in our Reaction Analysis team.  Dr. Andrews will provide several application examples that illustrate how the ReactIRTM was used successfully in the lab environment to ensure that a chemical process and its critical parameters were understood in sufficient detail for a successful scale-up.

METTLER TOLEDO is the world leader for in situ reaction monitoring. Our ReactIR™ technology has been extensively used in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries for over fifteen years. With over 1,000 systems installed worldwide, we have developed the experience and global support network to assist you in the understanding and optimization of your processes
