METTLER TOLEDO provides innovative solutions supporting the development and manufacturing of polymers and composite materials. Our technologies provide control and insight into the polymerization process that enables faster development and safer scale-up to manufacturing.

For the development and manufacturing of specialty polymer products, METTLER TOLEDO offers solutions in these specific polymer industry application areas:

Our Automated Lab Reactors reliably maintain accurate control of experimental conditions, providing the ability to test batch polymerization processes under conditions that mimic plant operations. In situ thermal hazard analysis, performed with RC1eTM reaction calorimeter and real-time  RTCalTM reaction calorimetry, identifies potential dangers of thermal accumulation that could occur with a stalled reaction or process upset.

In situ monitoring of reaction progress with ReactIRTM real-time FTIR reaction monitoring often provides the ability to directly track the polymerization process – including detection of undesirable accumulation of potentially hazardous intermediates or byproducts. In situ monitoring also provides more timely information and minimizes exposure to hazardous samples during offline analysis. Real-time monitoring and control of polymerization progress enables the optimization of the polymer process and control of the reaction to a desired endpoint that maximizes product quality and reduces waste.
