Rossignol Decolletage SA is located in Scionzier in the Savoy region of France. The core specialties of Rossignol Decolletage SA are: bar turning, bending, forging, cutting and resistance welding. Rossignol SA is a key supplier to several car manufacturers. As an ISO/TS16949 certified company, it takes quality control very seriously, as many of the products manufactured are important for vehicle safety. These parts have to be 100% reliable. METTLER TOLEDO has always been the company’s preferred supplier for weighing technology. Rossignol SA has chosen a service contract from METTLER TOLEDO for recalibration of all scales to comply with ISO/TS16949.

In its shipping department, Rossignol Decolletage SA had been using an ID5 with PM6000 scale and a KB60 weighing platform for piece counting. Labels conforming to the automotive standard Odette, used to be generated by a dedicated computer with two printers. The main reason for replacing this entire installation was that the computer became a risk, as it was becoming increasingly difficult to maintain and to replace quickly in the event of a sudden breakdown. The ID5 was replaced by an IND690 system weighing terminal. This weighing terminal took over the computer’s role of generating all types of Odette labels for the various products. The IND690 is linked via Ethernet to the company’s IT system for production control and production planning. Rossignol Decolletage SA decided to use two printers for the two different paper formats, with the label being printed straight after the parts are counted. This procedure reduces the risk of operators accidentally picking up the wrong preprinted label.

Benefits for Rossignol:
  • One supplier for all customized solutions. The settings for the Odette labels are stored in the IND690 and not in the printers or on a dedicated computer.
  • The same man-machine interface on the IND690 is used for weighing, counting, scanning, printing and data handling.
  • A single counting installation. It has a capacity of 60 kg for parts weighing less than 1 g.
  • Two printers for the two different paper formats eliminate the need to constantly switch paper types.
  • Traceability of all transactions for quality control and compliance to ISO/TS16949.
  • Ergonomic active BigWeight® display on the IND690 ensures excellent readability of the counting results and operator instructions.
  • The customer-specific process is programmed on the IND690 with all instructions in French
