High Precision Formulation of Specialty Chemicals in ATEX Zone 2 | | Specialty chemicals are manufactured for specialized technical applications and are generally custom produced in relatively small quantities. A typical formulation recipe often includes base components in larger quantities and much smaller amounts of several additives, demanding a balance with 1-5 kg capacity and 0.001-0.01 g readability. ATEX Zone 2 applications include specialty chemicals, such as dyestuffs, coatings and aromas. | | |
| | METTLER TOLEDO’s XS1003SX and XS5003SXDR Balances are ideally suited to the formulation of specialty chemicals. Quality Assurance Managers can be certain that METTLER TOLEDO’s ATEX balances, which are clearly marked with the Ex hexagon, meet the requirements for performance in the potentially explosive atmospheres of Zone 2 areas and also comply with Legal Metrology guidelines. Key balance features support quality assurance processes by facilitating highly repeatable and traceable processes while minimizing operator errors. |

Guided FormulationThe embedded application guides the operator through the formulation recipe and is particularly useful in situations where each operator may prepare as many as 50 formulations or several different recipes per day. The instructions on the balance touch-screen ensure recipes are reproducible and followed precisely.
Easy IdentificationAlphanumerical component IDs can be entered on the balance’s touch-screen as part of the guided process. Each formulation and its component IDs can be easily printed to fulfill documentation requirements and each formulation is fully traceable. Handwritten errors are eliminated.
Recipe DatabasesUsing the built-in RS232C or Ethernet interfaces, the balance can be connected to existing recipe databases in order to transfer recipes directly to the balance. This process ensures high repeatability, consistent quality and full documentation.
