DaQing Petrochemical Complex (DQPC) is a subsidiary of China National Petroleum Corporation. In its thirteen manufacturing plants, DQPC produces petrochemical products including styrene, polystyrene, ABS, propylene, propane, and various catalysts.

Improved process control
To control the inventory and usage of powder materials in its new polypropylene production line, DQPC equipped eight 400t hoppers with intelligent weighing equipment from METTLER TOLEDO. “Traditional level detectors, as we were used to rely on, weren‘t the appropriate technology to manage inventory adequately“, says the general manager. “Continuous problems due to cross-contamination adversely affected our production process. Plus, asymmetric material accumulation inside the hoppers led to inaccurate results”.

For process improvement DQPC equipped each of the eight hoppers with a set of six 100t Gagemount weigh modules. Weighing indicators monitor and control the entire weighing process. The smart thing about it is the predictive maintenance technology TraxEMT™ ensuring continuous uptime

• It proactively supports maintenance planning and execution.
