Faster results with differential weighing
Coke is the residual material after crude oil has been vacuum distilled as part of the refining process in an oil refinery. To determine the moisture content of coke, many companies in the petrochemical industry use differential weighing together with a drying oven. The precision balance plays an important role in this process as coke is not very homogenous and the sample amount per measurement is relatively high (sometimes up to several kilograms). The newly built-in differential weighing application of the METTLER TOLEDO Excellence precision balance offers the perfect solution for measuring this moisture loss. Although the balance is used in sticky and oily environments its metal housing is robust and its flat surfaces are extremely easy to clean.

Maximum productivity and quality
The differential weighing application of the XP precision balance assists the process by measuring a high number of high capacity samples simultaneously:

A maximum series of 99 can be repeatedly measured with the differential weighing application including measurements of up to 500 samples in each series. The XP balance’s easy-to-use touchscreen guides the user through each step of differential weighing such as taring, initial weighing and back weighing after drying for all the samples. Furthermore, the software calculates the loss of each sample weight and determines the moisture content automatically. The evaluation measurement mode can also be easily configured according to individual user requirements (e.g. the difference in ‘absolute weight’ or in ‘%’, ’moisture content’ or ’dry content‘etc.). These results can then be readily and easily printed on demand. This ensures that the quality of coke in terms of moisture content is kept on a constant level and productivity is maximized.
