Reliable quality control of coating processesChecking for a uniform coating is a process in the mechanical industry which requires highly accurate balances. This quality control application demands robust and easy to use balances. METTLER TOLEDO’s new Excellence XA balances are the ideal solution and offer a unique price-performance ratio.

Determining the mass of precious coatings requires a high level of accuracy. Each part is weighed before and after the coating process and the mass of the layer is calculated as the difference. Optionally, XA balances can be connected to a PC thanks to the Direct Balance software package and therefore facilitating calculations on an EXCEL spreadsheet. The XA line also features analytical balances which offer a higher level of accuracy required for more demanding R&D applications.
Convenient and secure piece countingApart from supporting a coating process, XA balances are also ideally suited for various counting applications. Producers of small components, such as suppliers to the watch making industry, need to count the number of parts in order to portion them prior to packaging. Springs, wheels, cogs and other delicate components typically weigh below 10g each. The high precision XA503 balance can be used as a reference to determine the individual weight of one component. The bulk quantity of parts is then placed onto the high capacity XA32001L balance where the weight is expressed as the total number of parts on the weighing pan.

A dedicated piece counting application is built-in to the XA firmware to accommodate reference weighing and statistics. Shortcuts can be defined on the balance’s touch-screen to simplify daily operation. Traceability is ensured through easy identification entry via the balance alphanumeric touchpad or a barcode reader and a printer connected to the balance by means of the RS232 or Bluetooth interfaces. For higher flexibility, or for networking, the weighing platforms (e.g. X404DR and X64001L) can be connected to METTLER TOLEDO IND terminals.
