The human eye can respond to a color much faster than it can read and interpret a value on a screen. If displays are colored, operators can supervise several machines at the same time because they can see whether the box is full, or not, standing a certain distance away. That is the idea behind the new full-color graphic display of the ICS449/469 terminals. The back-lit display of the terminals can change color from light blue to green, yellow or red. These colors can be allocated to the statuses below and above tolerance and optimum weight.

Tailored Weight Control

Moreover, the scale can be customized according to your needs. For example different target input modes like absolute, relative, with plus or minus tolerances from the target, or in percent from the target can be set or different sizes of the tolerances may be defined. In addition, there are memory locations for 50 different articles and tolerances available and the scale can also communicate with the machine via RS232, Ethernet, USB Device or Digital I/O. This function can be used to slow down or stop the machine automatically if the box is full.

Increased Productivity of Manual Processes

The colorWeight® display increases productivity of manual order filling of many identical portions in the shipping department. The graphical bar at the lower end of the display shows the filling status of the targeted portion giving the operator fast updated information during the whole filling process. The bar graph in combination with colorWeight increases speed in filling and reduces time consuming manual corrections of over- or under fill even from difficult viewing angles and distances.

ColorWeight Saves Time in a Variety of Processes:

Quality Control
Scales can be used in various ways to make sure that quality standards are met.
  • The quality of the casting can be checked by weight in order to recognize production errors such as cavities or holes.
  • The completeness of modules consisting of multiple parts can also be tested cost-effectively and without the risk of damage by means of weight control.
  • Through weighing you can determine if damage of coatings occurred and if the thickness of the coating is acceptable.
  • Sintered metal manufacturers test the completeness and density of their parts immediately after pressing using checkweighing scales.
  • Ball bearing manufacturers test the completeness and correct amount of lubricant for each individual ball bearing using weight control.

Control of Shipping Completeness
The completeness of orders to ship can be checked fast with a simple weighing solution.
  • Commissioned packages, blisters or shipping cartons are checked whether the correct quantity of products has been picked by weight or count.
  • Controlling whether the cable on the reel has the right length can be done very quickly by weight and the customized unit function. This function is integrated in advanced weighing terminals and allows the definition of specific units such as length.
