Over time, optical oxygen measurement systems are going to replace the well known amperometric systems in many applications. METTLER TOLEDO offers optical systems with integrated Intelligent Sensor Management (ISM) technology. Only this combination allows users to fully benefit from this new measurement technique in relation to ease of use and process safety.
English
Oxygen measurement with optical technology uses a mechanism called fluorescence quenching. The measurement is not based on a measurement of current but is instead a highly accurate detection of changes in the time scale of the fluorescence signal. This fluorescence lifetime is directly correlated to the oxygen level in the sample. Of great significance with this technology is highly simplified maintenance, as the absence of electrolyte and membrane body means maintenance is easy and needs no specialist know-how.
Together with METTLER TOLEDO’s ISM technology a new benchmark in sensor reliability and process safety has been reached. Online diagnostics inform the user of the need for maintenance and, of high importance in batch processes, about the wear on the sensor. The decision to use a sensor for the next batch can be easily taken. Furthermore, together with iSense Asset Suite software, calibration and documentation of all actions during the sensor lifetime can be documented electronically.
ISM is the key to fully benefit from all advantages of optical measurement technology.
