Fluid Bed Granulation

Ensure consistency of granule flowability, tabletability, and product bioavailability

Particles play a critical role in granulation product quality.  The particle distribution of granules produced in fluid bed granulation is a critical process parameter in ensuring consistency of granule flowability, tabletability, and product bioavailability.

Formulators and engineers can optimize granulation development and scale-up by directly monitoring the granule distribution in real time.  For fluid bed granulation, in process FBRM® and PVM® track changes to the particle distribution and provide immedidate feedback for control of critical process variables such as air flow rate, spray rate, and temperature, without the need for offline sampling and analysis.

Process Analytical Technology (PAT) tools in granulation promote faster and more thorough mapping of the experimental design space, enable consistent scale-up and tech transfer, and allow control of the process to a desired endpoint that assures downstream critical product quality and process effficiency.

In-line monitoring with FBRM®  Process Analytical Technology (PAT) also provides a dynamic batch fingerprint that helps ensure batch repeatability from the development laboratory through scale-up to pilot plant and manufacturing.
